Alright guys! If you are a Scott Pilgrim fan, then you are probably feeling pretty excited like I am about tomorrow... and if you live in Atlanta and haven't heard about the Criminal Records' Scott Pilgrim vs Atlanta party - then you are in for a treat!!

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. CRIMINAL RECORDS THIS TUESDAY, JULY 20, 2010!

ATLANTA -- The highly anticipated finale of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series will be released on Tuesday, July 20, and Criminal Records is hosting a party to celebrate the book, Scott Pilgrim Vol. 6: Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour, and the upcoming film adaptation, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

From 5 to 9pm next Tuesday, Criminal Records will transform into a subspace portal, where comic book fans are invited to dress up for a costume contest, to pose in a Scott Pilgrim-themed photo booth, and to participate in a video game tournament (disclaimer: electrical equipment may become unstable in subspace). There will also be giveaways and, of course, delicious cake to complete the party atmosphere.

           

I'll be there helping out all day and enjoying the festivities. So if you live in Atlanta - please come check out our party and say hello! There is also a domain dedicated to all things Scott Pilgrim vs Atlanta where we will upload the photos taken at the party :) http://scottpilgrimvsatl.com/

I'm so pumped! I'm planning on dressing up too - nothing too crazy but I'll give you a little hint about my outfit's theme...

Well thats it for now - as I find more stuff through out the week I'll save it to share with you guys. Tuesday will probably be a little quiet around here since I'll be at the event all day... I'll be closing out the give away post that morning and later in the evening I'll pick a winner to announce on Wednesday! 

After that I'll probably hide out in the above Scott Pilgrim shirt, drink lots of tea and relax with the final book. It has been a lot of hard work helping out on the Scott Pilgrim vs. Atlanta party, but I'm so excited to be a part of it tomorrow!

Planet Shark!

This Friday I was invited to the Planet Shark exhibit here at the Atlanta Aquarium. I had really been wanting to check this out, so I was super excited! There aren't any live sharks in the exhibit - but there are TONS of life size replicas, fossils and even a frozen mako shark on display.

Dun-da... Dun-da... Dun-da-dun-da-dun-da - Rarrrr!

Overall exhibit was really interesting. My favorite parts were the documented shark attacks, various diver suits over the years, shark cages you could climb in, movie memorabilia and the fact that they educated awareness on the cruelty involved with shark fishing. I'm so happy that I was invited to this event - it was very cool and I totally recommend it. Admission to the aquarium is included when you visit the exhibit, so we got to walk around and check out the rest of the rest of the creatures afterwords. :D I got to pet a sting ray while we were there, and Chris pet a little shark! ~scary~! He took a lot of really good photos while we were there - check out the rest here.

That crazy metal thing on my arm is part of a suit that protects divers from sharks. The entire suit is around 40lbs. Can you imagine being underwater with that on? Yikes.

Did any of you go see New Moon this weekend? Other than awesome aquarium trips, I basically worked on illustration stuff the rest of the time. I hope to go see it next weekend... The Twilight series is one of my secret guilty pleasures! ;)

Goodbye Geocities! + my website in 1997

If you haven't heard - Geocities is officially shutting down October 26th. This kinda saddens me, and somewhat closes the very first chapter of my internetting life. Geocities helped host some of my very first websites, and with out it I would probably not be where I am now. Many Geocities sites introduced to me to my now favorite interests (Comic books, Illustration/Animation, Costuming, etc...). Plus, it allowed people to meet others who shared similar interests - which was really neat for a nerdy illustrator gal to have growing up! I understand why its being shut down, and its good to move forward and learn new things... but I would like to take this moment to say

Goodbyeeeee Geocities! You were much loved <3

On that note - I scanned some old prints of one of my many early websites in 1997. Yes, I know its weird I printed out my website - but I was really proud of it at 14 and I wanted to show it to my friends who didn't have the internet. Gasp! Internet not being common - can you remember those days? ;)

This is kinda humorous to look back on. I was afraid to use my real name on the internet, so I pretended my name was Jillian Smith! sneaky sneaky. I was also super into Sailor Moon (if its not obvious already) - and oh noooo I'm using Comic Sans! Oh man. The little "who is your favorite scout" thing at the top was a POLL! I thought those were real cool, not sure why it doesn't show the blanks though. My "Jukebox" was links to MIDI files, which I was very proud of... I was also super proud of my ICQ "pager". Oh and check out that Unicorn visitor counter - how ridiculous is that thing?! I like how I included my signature at the bottom of the page to personalize it... its nice to see some things haven't changed about myself. :)

Snow in March?

For those who aren't in the south, or haven't heard - it snowed yesterday in Atlanta! Not just a little southern snow, but around 3-4 inches! (That is not very common here at all.) My little warm natured dog was very confused and frustrated about it. I don't think she really understands what snow is or how to walk in it. She kinda waddles around in the snow very nervous-like, and when she comes back inside she does lots of really excited hyper dances around the house! It is the cutest thing ever.

Anyhow - It was super pretty - I wish it snowed more often here. I think I could get real used to watching the snow fall from the window in my studio - super relaxing and gorgeous!

I hope you all had an excellent New Years Eve! Mine involved lots of balloooooners filled with glow sticks and good laughs. We went to an excellent party at our friend Joel's, where we popped balloons at midnight and took photobooth pictures all evening long ! <3 <3 It was very fun - I didn't dress up at all but I did break out a little tiara to wear!

I've been spending the days since relaxing, doodling and napping (with the occasional work day thrown in...). Today kinda kicked my butt, so I will end this post very short like with a quick colored doodle from a few days ago. Time to go relax and play some Katamariiii on iPhone!
