So this past Tuesday was my boyfriend's birthday - and I surprised him with cupcakes and the PS3 game "Lollipop Chainsaw", which we both didn't know a lot about at the time...
We were both under the impression that it was just the type of goofy mindless fighting game Chris enjoys when he isn't riding bikes. And to a certain extent it is, but I had no clue *I* was going to be so drawn to it!! When the game opened with Joan Jett's "Cherry Bomb" (one of my favorite songs), comic book style art stills, cheesy weird humor and tons of glitter pink hearts I became glued to the screen!

The main character, a zombie killing cheerleader named Juliet Starling, reminds me of a lot of things while I play the game: She's got some of that Harley Quinn saucy wackiness going on, a little bit Sailor Moon magical girl style, a similar feel to Adam Warren's Gen13 comic mini series called "Magical Drama Queen Roxy" (which if you haven't read, go get it off of ebay and do it now!!)... It's also definitely inspired by the 1992 movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and she even reminds me of a character named Fei Yen from a game I used to play in High School called "Virtual On". But it's mostly the magical girl/wacky heroine stuff that really stands out to me!

This game is so completely ridiculous and awesome. It's pretty obvious the target audience is young men with the fan services going on, but I'm thinking it might actually be young women as well after playing it for a bit... So many pink hearts, rainbows, glitter and goofy cute things. It's definitely not for kids though - the violence and language is kinda intense! (Sorry in advance to my 16 and under readers, this is not something for you.) You can read a more in-depth review here.

So I ask, what do you think of this game? Do you find it fun too and want to go grab a chainsaw for some sweet glitter zombie attacks? Or are you annoyed with her skimpy outfits and the ditzy humor? I personally adore it, and can't wait to go play it after I finish writing this post... Actually, to be honest I can't wait to go play it and then go work out!! This game is some serious work out inspiration for me!

So yeah - Let's talk about it!!
Let me know what you think! I'm curious who is playing it and enjoying it. ;)
