I probably should mention I have a self-portrait in the art show "Not You" this weekend...! It was organized by my pal Travis Smith, and it has over 70 artists participating - all doing self-portraits! I'm pretty excited to go check out all the art and see how others depict themselves... My piece is of me and Pika dancing together. I titled it, "Boogie Buddies"! :)
I tried something a little different than I normally do painting: I attempted to try to paint like I doodle myself on the tablet. I think it came out ok, but I feel like I would have enjoyed it better if I had drawn it digitally, then printed and mounted it on wood. Oh well - I'll take it as a learning experience! Its always good to try new things... The piece was done with acrylic paint and ink on wood.
If you'd like to check it out in person, the show will be held at the MINT gallery in Atlanta, GA. The show opens on Saturday, January 16th, 2010, from 8-11 pm, and will run til February 7th, 2010. This might be my last show for a little while since I'm going to focus more on my blog, etsy and freelance work this year!
