The above is the version for my portfolio. I really enjoyed this project - More people need to have me draw cute space girls! Things I'm working on next: drawing a chest piece tattoo for the fabulous musician and zine-maker, Jemibook (SO COOL!) and two acrylic paintings for a pal of mine. It's good to be busy!

Also - I've gotten a lot of questions lately about if I take commissions, and to get things straight:

Things I love Thursday!

This week's Things I love Thursday should really be called: Things I love and want to buuyyyyy, because I have a giant wish list at the moment! I'm currently craving lots of fun, girly and sparkly sort of things. But! I'm trying to be good and save money right now, so a fun visual wish list will have to do until I treat myself :)

Other fantastical things:

Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block - I just ordered a dirt cheap used copy of Dangerous Angels (the combined Weetzie stories) from Amazon, and I'm really adoring it. It reads a little funny like taking to a young teen, but the text is so bubbly sweet that you enjoy it. It makes me all nostalgic-like since I used to read Block's other books when I was a teen. Good times.

Kandee the Make-Up Artist's heartfelt video on not giving up on your dreams - I seriously teared up at it. She is such an inspiring, creative and down-to-earth gal.

Online pink hair communities that are awesome - I haven't been able to find Special Effects Atomic Pink dye in stores lately and the super sweet gals over at pink hair gave me info on what was up. (Apparently, the company is out of stock.) I love the internet sometimes - mystery solved!

Eating a tasty lunch in a little hidden garden area in the city, Listening to people's last.fm radio stations to discover new music, purple nail polish with glitter and sparkles on top, window shopping online, taking cat naps with books, planning a trip to New York City with my lady pal (so exciting!!), finding a ticket to Versailles in my old purse, planning for the future.

Art Update! Space girl sketches

I'm wrapping up my project with the super cute Ginny McQueen this week, and I thought I'd share a few more concepts we didn't go with. I've really been digging drawing space girls lately (It's probably obvious! hehe) I think my favorite one is the 3rd sketch - she looks so cute and like shes about to blast off! The hair reminds me of Harley Quinn too, which I'm a big softy for. :B

Another piece I was working on wrapped up last week - It is a more corporate-type illustration project where I had to draw several black and white objects and make them into a repetitive pattern...I've done a couple of these now and I thought I'd share one. Not suuuuper exciting, but I enjoyed drawing the brain and the curly light bulb! The flock of geese is kinda goofy fun too. Heh!
