So today my blog is officially one year old! Whee! I think its heading towards a really good direction, and I've enjoyed writing in it a whole lot along the way.

I've been thinking real hard on how to improve this little blog for 2009, and also trying to figure out ways I can give more to my readers... So, why not have a CONTEST!

Valentine's day sketches

I'm FINALLY back to feeling well. Took me long enough, huh? Blah! During my time away from ze blog this week, I've been working on some ideas for my Valentine's day giveaways, plus a contest! Here are some previews of my first Valentine's day illustrations - and I'll be posting more on the contest on Thursday - and other Vday previews Friday. Whee! I'm trying to cook up some fun things for you guys, so stick around!

On the sketches in this post: I'm basing this particular idea off of an old card that was given to me a few years ago from my cousin Lauren. Its photo copied above - of this fantastic 20's girl playing a heart-shaped guitar. I'm still refining the idea - the below is the most current version.

Also - something fun - the below sketch was done completely with ball point pens and cheap office pencils. Sometimes I really really love drawing with cheap office supplies - they feel so good on paper! I'm not sure why.

So I haven't really done a "Things I love Thursday" in a while - but I wanted to share a teeny tiny post since there are some things I'm adoring at the moment. So here are some of my current flickr favorites, annnnd -

Things I'm really digging at the moment: Silver nail polish ("Easel Come, Easel Go" by Fingerpaints to be exact), Soy French Vanilla coffee creamer, pink ink on butcher paper, naps!!! (still not feeling 100%), sweet people on the internet, tasty cookies and chocolate cupcakes, day dreaming about our upcoming trip to San Francisco... Did I mention naps? I think the cold weather is zapping my energy! zzzzzzonk.

HIGHLIGHTER POST-IT NOTE PARTY!

So much doodling on post-it notes with office pens and highlighters today. Tossed in a quick doodle of Abby from NCIS (seriously she is SO cute, I want to draw her again!), a character I made up named Ms. No-pants-party, weiner doglette, monkeekee and lots of random ladies.

I'm thinking I might make some Valentines this week of Ms. No-pants-party if I have enough time.
We will see!

Not much to say today - I wasn't feeling well last week. (Still kinda not feeling well...ick!)

Here is a brief summary of my week:

- Worked a bit on freelance and will have photos soon! (probably by Friday)
- Curled up on the couch and watched NCIS episodes while trying to feel better. I think the character Abby just might be the cutest lady everrr. The photo above is me pretending to be her.
- Tried to improve my hula hooping - I'm able to drink coffee and hula hoop at the same time now! Zaaapow! Now if I can just figure out some other neat little tricks !
- Dyed my hair black
- Went to see Kooza at Cirque du Soleil!! It was so lovely. I want to draw all the beautiful things I saw there <3 Or run away to join the circus and be an acrobatic clown. Hmmm...
