This week, I went to "Le Flash" in Castleberry Hill with a few friends. "Le Flash" is was inspired by Paris' yearly event, Nuit Blanche, where they light up the city with art. The whole area of Castleberry Hill was filled with experimental installation, video, and sound - in both galleries, shops, on the street and in vacant lots. I uploaded a few photos from the event on my flickr, and here is another flickr gallery with some very nice photos.
Laila's sister, Justine (and friend Angus) had an installation there that was very beautiful - tons of illuminated glowing birds sitting in the grass while a hidden speaker played chirping sounds.

In between looking at awesome art, there was sipping of wine on the streets and stomping around in the
rain. At one point in the night, there were giant yellow balloons being released on a rooftop, and a blow up doll was attached to one of the balloons to fly off into the Atlanta sky... On our ride home that same doll slowly drifted down into the street in front of us (several blocks away the original event) and it was hilarious - it looked like a real person at first!! My favourite things were the videos being cast on giant flat screens in windows (and Art House coop's where you could submit your own!), and how there were little tiny silver stars everywhere on the rainy concrete.
It was magical, exciting and inspiring!
